The Science Based Targets Initiative is conducting a survey until Sep. 30, 2022, on the most important four topics for corporate climate action.
The four topics are: SBTi criteria updates, Scope 3 targets; measurement, reporting and verification; and communication of progress – SBTi annual progress report and targets dataset.
SBTI’s aim is to help avoid the worst effects of climate change by helping companies and financial institutions to set and implement science-based emissions reduction targets. More than 3,500 companies use the SBTI’s guidelines.
According to the initiative’s website, SBTI is currently developing targets for companies in the oil and gas industry. In March this year, SBTI paused validating commitments from hydrocarbons companies, which includes refiners, marketers and distributors of oil products. Lubricants and base oil fall within this scope.
