The Appliance of Science

By Simon Johns - Jun 15, 2021

Perstorp, a Swedish chemicals company that produces raw materials for synthetic base stocks, announced it will set a science-based emission reduction target in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. The Paris Agreement aims to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

Anna Berggren, Perstorp’s vice president of sustainability, highlights the challenge for companies trying to reduce their environmental impact. The term “science based” refers to the Science Based Target initiative. It calculates what companies can do to reduce emissions in line with current climate science. Read more about the Science Based Target initiative in Sustainability InSite.
