U.S. Base Oil Exports Dropped in June

The Unites States exported 22% less base oil in June, with the steepest drops occurring in exports to Colombia and Belgium, while base oil imports decreased by 3%, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Reladyne Acquires Michigan Distributor

The largest finished lubricant distributor in the United States grew some more recently when Reladyne purchased Michigan-based Great Lakes Lubricants. Cincinnati-based Reladyne announced its latest in a long line of acquisitions in an Aug. 31 news release.

Timken Buys Filtration Products Maker Des-Case

The Timken Co. acquired Des-Case Corp., a Nashville, Tennessee-based manufacturer of specialty filtration products for industrial lubricants, saying the deal will compliment Timken’s automatic lubrication systems. Although the cost was not disclosed, Timken said it funded the transaction with a combination of cash on hand and its existing revolving credit facility.
