Russian Blender to Expand

Russian independent lube maker Nordoil plans to expand its lubricant production site near Moscow to help fill the supply shortage caused by the exodus of foreign lubricant companies from Russia amid the country’s war against Ukraine.

Italy Starts Collecting Used Marine Oils

A collaborative initiative collected 15% more used marine oils in the first nine months of this year in Italy’s Ostia port area than in the same period in 2021 and suggested the program could be implemented at marinas all along the country’s coast, Italy’s National Consortium for the Management, Collection and Treatment of Used Mineral Oils, known as Conou, reported.

France Lube Demand Falls

Lubricant consumption in France declined 5% to 36,679 metric tons in August, compared to the same month last year, Paris-based Professional Lubricants Center reported in data released yesterday. Automotive lubricants consumption decreased 3%, and industrial lubricants consumption fell 7%.

New passenger car registrations in the European Union rose 10% to 787,870 units in September, marking the second consecutive month of year-on-year growth this year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association reported today. Over the first three quarters of this year, the EU passenger car market contracted by 10% to 6.8 million units.
