EVs are Nudging Down Crude Demand

Electric vehicles are having a measurable effect on global crude demand, according to new research by Bloomberg NEF. This is potentially bad news for fuel refiners and engine oil blenders.

Gazprom Containers Degrade Faster

Russian oil major Gazprom Neft claims to have developed a technology for making biodegradable motor oil cartons that break down 20 times faster than conventional plastics. The packaging has an organic component that dissolves in the environment much faster than plastic. The company said it will soon release of a test batch of oil in the new cartons from its lubricant blending and packaging plant in Omsk, Russia.

Fuchs Merges Germany Units

Fuchs Petrolub SE has merged two subsidiaries in Germany – Fuchs Schmierstoffe GmbH and Fuchs Lubritech GmbH – to form a single business in its home country. The new entity is Fuchs Lubricants Germany, which is headquartered in Mannheim. Lubritech focused on manufacturing and supplying specialty lubricants, while Fuchs Schmierstoffe dealt more generally in automotive and industrial lubes.
