Motor Oil Shortage Develops in Russia

Russia’s retail market for automobile spare parts, including motor oils, is facing supply shortages, according to Autodoc.ru, the country’s largest online retailer of car parts. The firm, which also operates stores across Russia, issued a statement Monday saying that supply of a number of items, such as brake pads and motor oils, decreased by up to 20 percent from January to October of this year.

France August Lube Sales Rise

Lubricant demand in France showed a moderate year-over-year increase in August, but several lubricant segments posted their lowest monthly sales of this year. The August improvement followed year-to-year declines in July and June.

Vanol Opens Plant in Dubai

Vanol FZE is preparing to unveil a lubricant blending plant in Dubai with capacity of 75,000 metric tons per year, a launch pad for its plan to enter the toll manufacturing business. Located in the Jebel Ali free economic zone, the plant was conceived of in 2016, according to officials, who added that it took three years to build. The company did not disclose the cost of the project.

African Fuels & Lubricants Manufacturing Ltd. of the Tristar Group officially launched local manufacturing of Chevron Brands International LLC’s Caltex lubricants in Kenya in East Africa. Under the long-term license agreement announced Sept. 15, AML will blend, distribute and market the lubricants in six East African countries.
