Engine Oil Demand Slows in GCC

Motor oil demand volume in the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council is projected to grow by around 20 percent out to 2023, but light vehicle sales sagged over the past two years, dampening current lubricant demand, according to a market research firm.

Rerefinery Planned in Turkey

Turkish waste oil collector Tayras announced that it is building an API Group II rerefinery with enough capacity to process 20 percent of the used lubricants that the country generates. The company claims it will be the countrys first rerefinery.

Regs Modernize African Car Parcs

Half of Africas 54 countries have passed legislation regulating imports of used vehicles - either banning them completely or capping the age of units that can be brought in - and this is changing fleet mixes and gradually impacting base stock needs, an ExxonMobil official said at a conference here.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants supplied marine engine oil and lubricants for Saint Petersburg, Russia-based Sovcomflot’s Arctic tanker Mikhail Lazarev.
