Cosmo Contracts Blending to EMG

Facing up to Japans shrinking lube market, Cosmo Oil Co. announced last week a supply agreement to have its lubricants manufactured by TonenGenerals EMG Marketing Godo Kaisha. The new arrangement takes effect in November 2015, and Cosmo intends to close its blending plant in Chiba, Japan, the following month.

KH Neochemopened a new research lab at its plant in Chiba, Japan, to focus on its core oxo reaction technology, used to produce alcohols and acids that help formulate synthetic ester base oils and lubricant additives. Gulf Oil International opened a sales office in Beijing after opening another in Shanghai earlier this year. The parent of Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd. now has three locations in China, including an office and factory near Yantai.
