Idemitsu Kosan Co. is nearing completion of an expansion that will increase capacity of its lubricant plant in Thailand by 20 percent by November.
Located on Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chonburi Province, on Thailands eastern seaboard, the facility currently has capacity to make 50,000 kiloliters per year – a number that will rise to 60,000 kl/y when the project is completed, by the end of the third quarter. The company said the expansion will accommodate increased local demand from Japanese automobile manufacturers in Thailand.
The lubricant plant is operated by Idemitsus subsidiary, Apollo (Thailand) Co., In addition to automotive lubricants, Apollo Thailand also sells industrial oils such as turbine oils and hydraulic fluids.
According to Tokyo-based Idemitsus first quarter financial report, , total lubricant sales fell by 2 percent to 247,000 kl, compared to the same period last year. Sales of overseas figures were not available.
