U.S. Base Oils Take Big Step Back in August

Base oil production in the United States dropped to 4 million barrels in August, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported yesterday, the lowest monthly total in a year and a half and 26% less than in the same month in 2021. August production was down from 5.5 million barrels in August 2021

Brian Paliotti will succeed Regina Anne Harm, who is retiring in 2023, as president of NewMarket Corp.’s petroleum additives segment Afton Chemical Corp. effective Jan. 1 next year.  Teknor Apex announced yesterday that effective Dec. 1, a partnership will begin with IMCD US, LLC, IMCD Canada Ltd. and IMCD Mexico S.A. de C.V., part of IMCD Group, for sale of its TruVis lubricant esters throughout North America. IMCD will market, sell, warehouse and support Teknor’s mono-esters, diesters, trimellitates and polyol esters for industrial and transportation applications.
