U.S. Oil Change Sales Jump

Sales at oil change and lubrication shops in the United States climbed 10% to $6.3 billion in 2021, compared to $5.7 billion in 2020, according to a joint report by the Auto Care Association and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association. This could reflect a rebound from impacts of pandemic-related restrictions during 2020, which marked a slight decline from 2019.

Equipment Maker Perma Expands in U.S.

German-based grease and lubrication systems manufacturer H-T-L Perma USA is expanding its production capacity at a new headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company announced. Perma USA has operated factory in Charlotte since 1995. The company offers electrochemical single-point lubrication systems, electromechanical single-point lubrication systems and electromechanical multipoint lubrication systems.

Albemarle Ramps Up Lithium Output

Albemarle Corp. opened an additional plant Monday at its lithium production site in Antofagasta, Chile, part of a strategy of helping to meet spiraling global demand from electric vehicles and high-tech devices. Already one of the largest lithium producers in the world, United States-based Albemarle said the project will double its output in Chile.

Liberty, Missouri-based National Lubricating Grease Institute announced the hiring of Andrey Ukrazhenko as marketing and communications manager and Jennifer Davis Foreman as member services manager.  Todd Cawley, formerly of LSI Chemical, and Perry Anderson, founder of BestLine Racing LLC, announced their partnership to create DNL Chemical, which supplies additives globally to lube blenders, refineries and fuel producers. Cawley is CEO and Anderson is chief operating officer of DNL Chemical, which supplies LSI Chemical products and plans in the future to carry products of other companies.
