Chevron Oronite released an additive package, OLOA 54720, to address the issue of low-speed pre-ignition in gasoline and light-duty passenger car engines with after-treatment systems. The additives are blended with SAE 0W-20 engine oils to protect turbochargers against LSPI while controlling deposits to increase engine cleanliness, reducing emissions and lowering friction and wear to improve fuel economy, the company says. The product meets European original equipment manufacturer specifications from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo as well as the ACEA 2016 C5 oil sequences, API SN Plus and ILSAC GF-5 standards.
