Friction-reducing Additive

Lanxess is launching an organic friction modifier for synthetic and mineral passenger car engine oils. Additin RC 3502 was developed to reduce friction with a non-corrosive friction modifier, meeting the requirements for fuel economy gains in the upcoming ILSAC GF-6 specification, the company says. The product provides antiwear protection and performs over an extended drain interval, typically up to 20,000 miles. Formulated without SAPS, Lanxess claims the product can “boost” interactions among surface-active additives such as detergents and antiwear additives. Web: www.lanxess.com
