ACC represents the chemical industry in the United States; the group’s Petroleum Additives Panel includes makers of lubricant additives. ACC’s Product Approval Protocol Task Group focuses on research and advocacy efforts for automotive lubricant additives, and instituted the first Code of Practice for automotive engine oil performance testing in 1992. All engine tests conducted in support of API licensing must be conducted under ACC’s Code of Practice.
