Amsoil Aims High
Amsoil has launched two lubricants to clean and protect all matter of long- and short-range firearms. Amsoil Synthetic Firearm Lubricant and Protectant reduces friction to extend gun durability, prevents blockage, jams and wear, and offers protection in extreme temperature climates, the company states. It also offers Amsoil Firearm Cleaner and Protectant, an aerosol lubricant that clears powder residue from firearm surfaces and components to reduce jamming, as well as protect against corrosion to allow for safe storage. Big Grease, Small Cartridge
Indeco North America offers an automatic greasing system for hydraulic breakers. The companys Lubemaxx system utilizes disposable grease cartridges fitted to a breaker-mounted pump. The grease cartridges, which come filled with Indecos Supreme 1000 breaker lubricant, contain a transparent channel to help determine the amount of grease left and prevent accidental running of the hammer without lubrication, the company says. As a closed system, Lubemaxx significantly reduces grease contamination that comes with manual procedures, Indeco added. The system can be easily moved to different breakers, making it ideal for rental applications. Web: www.indeco-breakers

Improved Cylinder Oil
Total Lubmarine released a new cylinder lubricant thats suitable to use with fuels with sulfur content between 0 and 3.5 percent. Talusia Optima is a cylinder lube that works with both high-sulfur heavy fuels and ultra-low-sulfur distillate fuels, the company says. During test trials, the product showed better resistance to adhesive wear than conventional BN 100 cylinder lubricant oils, as well as improved piston coating wear rate by 30 percent, Total Lubmarine claims. The lubricant is based on ash free neutralizing molecules, a chemistry that allows acid neutralization without buildup of mineral deposits. The new lube is a breakthrough development that will simplify the management of vessels trading globally in and out of emission control areas, and offers the potential to significantly reduce lube consumption and help extend engine life, the company states. Mix It Up
Ross recently introduced a variety of mixer models for pilot-scale production of paste-like materials, putties, gels and powder blends. The companys Double Planetary Mixers come in four-, five-, 10- and 25-gallon models that can also vacuum-dry heat-sensitive applications at low temperatures, the company says, leading to smooth, void-free finished products. The mixers blades are made for extremely viscous materials, and their helical curve and down-thrust section prevent the product from climbing into the cover. The stirrers pass through every point in the vessel, promoting very thorough mixing as well as uniform temperature by constantly exchanging materials near the vessels jacketed sidewalls, the company adds. Petro-Canada Boards PC-11 Train
Petro-Canada Lubricants is the latest manufacturer to reveal its line of API CK-4 and FA-4 heavy-duty diesel engine oil products. The Duron products will be available in four performance tiers as Duron HP, SHP, UHP and Duron Advanced, the latter which maximizes fuel economy required by API FA-4, the company says. The HP and SHP tier each have a 15W-40 viscosity oil, while both SHP and Duron Advanced have a 10W-30 viscosity oil. The UHP tier offers the widest range of viscosities with 10W-40, 0W-30 and -40, and 5W-30 and -40. Durons heavy-duty diesel engine oils will be commercially available Dec. 1.

SKF Boosts Bearings Formula
SKF upgraded its Solid Oil-filled bearings to benefit more equipment subjected to humidity, contamination and other operating conditions. The oil-saturated polymer matrix in the bearings creates a consistent lubricant supply that withstands very cold temperatures, aggressive chemicals, contaminants, and high centrifugal forces. The polymer matrix contains two to four times more lubricating oil than standard grease-filled bearings, and the bearings never have to be re-lubricated, SKF notes. This enhanced formula can be added to any standard SKF bearing and provides an effective seal by filling up the bearings cavity. Solid Oil-filled bearings allow for food processing equipment, cranes, machinery and conveyors to function without the need for manual greasing, and additives such as rust inhibitors can be incorporated in the mix to increase protection. Recyclable Protection
Biodegradable corrosion protection just got easier. Cortec has developed EcoAir VpCI-337 Fogger in a recyclable spray can. This biodegradable vapor corrosion inhibitor protects metal parts and internal spaces with a thin, self-healing film, says Cortec. The Vapor-phase corrosion inhibitors in the fluid activate to protect surfaces without affecting conductivity, appearance or any other properties of metals and alloys. No other harmful solvents or aerosols are released into the atmosphere, the company adds, and when the can is empty, users can simply remove the top, take out the inner bag and recycle it alongside other aluminum products. Better Marine Lube Monitoring
Shell Marine launched a new software package called Marine Connect for its LubeMonitor service. This software provides easy-to-read reports, engine overview and historical data on the vessel that is analyzed, the company states, and allows Shells experts to provide comments on parts that require optimization. The LubeMonitor runs together with the companys Rapid Lubricants Analysis cylinder check to assess cylinder oil samples for equipment issues before they become critical. Shell LubeMonitor allows customers to evaluate Shell RLA data and data generated from Shells Onboard Alert magnetic iron analyzer and Shells Onboard Plus BN test kit, to strike the best balance between cylinder oil cost and engine reliability by optimizing feed rates, the company adds. Detect Pesky Particles
Spectro Scientific has introduced a new way to routinely measure ferrous wear particulates in lubricants with its FerroCheck portable magnetometer. A 30-second analysis of a sample allows FerroCheck to sense the disruption of a magnetic field generated by ferrous debris, such as iron, in the lubricant. The tool can detect particles from nanometers to millimeters in size and has a sensitivity range of 0 to 2500 ppm, providing highly repeatable results, the company claims. FerroCheck also allows non-laboratory personnel to detect particulates without solvents or sample preparation. When performing measurements on site, FerroCheck eliminates the wait associated with lab-based fluid analysis and enables users to make immediate maintenance decisions that reduce unexpected downtime and costs and eliminate potential catastrophic machine failures, Spectro Scientific adds.
