An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the R&D Team at Croda Inc. The Research Director will be responsible for maintaining an efficient product development program aimed at producing innovative and commercially viable new products. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; ensuring product development is in line with goals established by marketing and R&D, prioritize projects based on commercial importance and current stage of development, discuss project status with Research Scientists and provide technical guidance as needed to aid in the successful completion of projects, ensuring reaction processes for new products can be carried out using existing manufacturing equipment, meeting with technical and marketing managers to discuss current product development and formulate a platform for introducing new products to the market and/or identify additional evaluations that may be needed, securing future sales growth by filing for patents on new products or the novel use of exiting products via the patent committee, must be consistent with Croda systems for safety, quality and product development from product concept through product launch and operating a safe and effective laboratory complying with all of Crodas Safety, Health & Environmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related technical field. Additional coursework in organic chemistry and analysis preferred. 5+ years organic synthesis and chemical analysis experience, 2+ years formulation or product evaluation and chemical manufacturing, scale up and warehousing experience, 2+ years sales and marketing experience. 3+ years managerial experience. Proficient in MS Office. Good communication and team building skills. Must have written and oral proficiency.
