International Petroleum Products and Additives Company, Inc. (IPAC), a leading manufacturer and marketer of additives for industrial and automotive lubricants, has an opportunity for a Component Development Chemist with organic synthesis experience to join our R&D team in our Technology Center near Richmond, VA.

In this position, the chemist will synthesize new components in the laboratory for use as lubricant additives, optimize synthetic routes and processes for manufacture, and oversee the complete development process, assisting with scale-up and manufacturing of the targeted compounds once developed.

The position focuses primarily on developing and optimizing the synthesis and purification processes associated with a wide range of components used in lubricant additives. The candidate must have in-depth relevant experience in organic synthesis with the capability to support and maintain robust, reliable and accurate processes in manufacturing, as well as the ability to act as a project manager, ensuring that a broad range of activities are well organized and prioritized.

This team member will interface with a broad range of functional groups within the company as well as with outside vendors, requiring excellent communication skills.
