Wall Stackers Save Space

Davtone, manufacturer of Tote-A-Lube bulk fluid storage and dispensing systems, has introduced Wall Stackers for extreme space-saving applications. The Wall Stacker see-through polyethylene tanks come in 32, 71 and 115-gallon sizes, with a footprint of only 36 inches long by 19 inches wide. You can store almost 230 gallons of a single product or up to six different fluids in an area less than 6square feet, said Davtones Ron Carlson. Designed for bulk lubricants, the systems gravity-feed system is also useful for many other chemical, commercial, industrial and agricultural applications as well. Web: www.totealube.com

Emgard Goes 500K

Cognis introduced its new Emgard 2979 SAE 50 synthetic transmission lubricant, the first lubricant meeting the latest Eaton Transmission PS 164.7 specification. Fully compatible with existing products, the new Emgard is formulated to provide superior performance in all climatic conditions. It contains an antiwear additive as well as rust, oxidation and corrosion inhibitors to protect parts, reduce wear and extend transmission life and oil change intervals. The new lubricant extends drain intervals to as much as 500,000 miles, and makes it possible for original equipment manufacturers to offer their customers a five-year/750,000-mile warranty on transmission components. Self-burping Tube for Grease

Research Plastic has developed a self-burping design that eliminates air from tubes. The key innovation is a ribbing system on the inside of the bottom end of the tube that allows air to escape when the plunger is initially inserted. Four vertical ribs, equally spaced and about 1.25 inches long, protrude outward just ten thousandths of an inch, creating just enough of a gap between the side wall of the tube and the plunger to allow any trapped air to escape. Once the plunger has been inserted and the air has escaped, a tight seal is created. Research Plastic made plastic caulking tubes for years, until caulking customers sought help keeping air out of the tubes. Now the grease industry is discovering that the self-burping tubes work for greases, too. E-mail: wayne.pulman@research plastic.com

Lubrizol Ensures EU Biocide Supply

When the EU Biocide Product Directive became effective Sept. 1, industries in the European Union were prohibited from using about two-thirds of the biocides formerly available. From September through July 2007, EU industries can use only notified biocidal active substances whose manufacturers have committed to complete an expensive and extensive registration process. Lubrizol said it properly notified biocidal substances under the directive before Sept. 1toensure an uninterrupted supply of biocides to its EU metalworking customers. Lubrizol is pursuing official authorization for bactericides with broad spectrum against gram positive and negative bacteria; fungicides; combination products; and system cleaners. Asthe EU transitions toward more rigorous standards, Lubrizols EU metalworking customers will experience no disruption in product availability, said the companys Joe Purnhagen. The company expects to see fewer than 300 authorized biocidal products on the definitive list scheduled for release next July -nearly 80 percent fewer than before. Web: www.Lubrizol.com

Stop Corrosion with Cosmoline

Houghton International has developed Cosmoline PTC, anew water-based coating that inhibits rust and corrosion on pipes, tubing and concrete. When applied during manufacturing, Cosmoline PTCimproves the ability of pipes and tubing to resist general corrosion (rust) as well as localized pitting corrosion from acids produced by bacterial action on organic materials on the surface of the pipe. Also called microbially induced corrosion, pitting corrosion from bacterial activity is a growing concern for product design engineers. Cosmoline PTCcontains no nitrites and is water based, for easy recycling and disposal. Web: www.houghtonintl.com

IBC for Flammable Liquids

Hoover Materials Handling Group now offers the Cargo Valve Liquitote, an intermediate bulk container that complies with Special Permit 12412. As of Jan. 1, 2007, all IBCs and portable tanks transporting flammable liquids permitted by SP-12412 will have to comply with the outlet requirements spelled out under U.S. Law. Special Permit 12412 authorizes use of specific IBCs or portable tanks with bottom discharge emergency shut-off valves to discharge specific hazardous materials from a vehicle (commonly referred to as the pump-off exemption.) Hoovers Cargo Valve Liquitote is the only UN31A IBC which meets these requirements, the company said. Available in sizes from 350 to 550 gallons, the IBCs are stocked in Houston. Grease-free Bearings from EDT

DT Corp.s new Radial Poly-Round bearings last longer in wet, dirty, hot or cold environments and operate completely without grease, the company claims. Made of stainless steel and high-performance polymers, they interchange with industry-standard unmounted ball bearings, so installation simply involves changing a bearing. Materials are available that work at temperatures from -200 degrees F to 700 F(-125 to 375 C), and operate at speeds up to 400 surface feet per minute, under moderate radial loads and side thrust. The Poly-Rounds are ideal in bottling, packaging, meat and poultry processing and material handling equipment as well as many other applications. Web: www.edtcorp.com
