Bottle Closure Fights Counterfeiting
Bericap has developed a bottle closure that incorporates an anticounterfeiting measure. The 42 millimeter closure includes a side laser printing application that imposes the companys logo on the side. The laser mark is printed across the tamper band, which breaks on first opening and practically cuts the logo, providing a visible sign for the consumer that the bottle has been opened.

Low-Vis Base Oil
Chevron Corp. will market Chevron Neutral Oil 60R low-viscosity base oil in Europe for use in industrial oils, including transformer oils, drilling fluids, dedust oils, metalworking fluids, process oils, low-viscosity transmission fluids, low-viscosity hydraulic oils and shock absorber fluids. The company says Neutral Oil 60R is produced by hydroprocessing technology and has practically zero sulfur and almost no impurities, extending oil life and reducing operating costs.

ECA-Approved Marine Oils
Shell Marine Products offers a line of marine lubricants approved for use in Emission Control Areas. The portfolio includes Alexia S3, formulated for use in two-stroke engines running on low sulfur and distillate fuels up to 0.5 percent sulfur. Gadinia is for use in medium-speed four-stroke engines, and Mysella is for engines powered by liquefied natural gas.

Air Release Test Upgraded
Savant Labs announced that it has upgraded its capability to run ASTM D3427, Air Release Properties of Oils. The D3427 test determines the ability of a turbine, gear or hydraulic oil to separate entrained air. Agitation of lubricating oil with air can produce a dispersion of finely divided air bubbles in the oil. If a mixture of air and oil circulates through a lubricating system, the result could be poor hydraulic system performance or mechanical failure. System designers use D3427 results to ensure that reservoirs are adequately sized, and oil formulators use the results to ensure their formulations meet industry and OEM specifications.

Oil Approved for MAN Euro 6 Trucks
Shell Rimula R6 LME 5W-30 has been approved for first fill of all MAN Euro 6 trucks produced in Germany. The company says LME (low emissions, maintenance saving and energy saving) technology provides fuel economy while meeting the durability and performance requirements the low-emissions equipment requires to comply with Euro 6 standards. The low-SAPS oil is compatible with exhaust aftertreatment systems to help maintain control of exhaust emissions (oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter).

Shaking Things Up
Zinsser Analytic GmbH has developed a multiposition vertical shaker that can mix several samples in parallel using a 15 millimeter vertical movement at up to 1,200 cycles per minute. The company says that the instruments vertical up and down motion produces higher acceleration and better sample mixing. The shaker can be used to mix difficult media such as viscous liquids and solid dispersions and for liquid-liquid extractions. It can be adapted to accept customer specific labware.
