Test Kit Detects Marine Engine Wear

CM Technologies has developed a cold corrosion test kit that helps identify corrosive wear, abrasive wear and insolubles in two-stroke marine diesel engine oil. The company says that the cylinder drain oil analysis test kit provides data on four parameters: mechanical/abrasive wear, corrosive wear, reserve alkalinity and insolubles such as soot content. This allows early detection of any fuel or combustion problems, including inadequate or suboptimal cylinder lubrication, changes in fuel sulfur content, problems with fuel injection and atomisation, catalyst fines in the fuel and problems with the friction pairing of pistons, piston rings and cylinder liners.
