Whats the Right Oil?

Morris Lubricants has launched Whatoil? an Internet-based system that helps consumers select the correct oil after entering a few basic details. For passenger cars and motorcycles, users simply enter a registration plate number, and the program produces a list of recommended products for the engine, gearbox and brakes. The tool also advises the correct products for vehicles and machines in the commercial vehicle, agriculture, off-highway and industrial sectors.

100 BN Cylinder Oil

Chevron Marine Lubricants announced Taro Special HT 100 cylinder oil has been approved for use in engines manufactured by MAN Diesel & Turbo. The company says that the 100 base number oil provides lower feed rates and liner wear protection compared to 70BN oils. Taro Special HT 100 is now available in selected ports around the world.

Nonliquid Grease Oxidation Testing

Tannas Co. introduced an expanded testing application of its Quantum oxidation tester for oxidation stability of lubricating greases, such as in the ASTM D942 method. The company says that the research leading to the use of the Quantum for grease testing extends the productivity of the bench test in gaining greater efficiency with reduced sample size to aid in comparing various types of greases. The nonliquid Quantum has been used to run the D2272 (RPVOT) and D4742 (TFOUT) methods. The Quantum grease test kit assembly is available for purchase with either new or existing units in the field.

Oils for Competitive Motorbikes

Repsol has introduced Repsol Moto, a new range of synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral lubricants for competition bikes, off-road bikes or scooters, with two-stroke or four-stroke engines. The company says all the products pass the JASO and API certification requirements. The packaging is also new, employing different-color labels for each of the lubricants in the range, so customers can easily choose the best product for their motorbike.

Spray-On Lubes & Cleaners

Oelheld Inc. has introduced three aerosol products. LubTool 2000 is a fully synthetic, PAO-based lubricating oil that lubricates, cleans, protects and removes corrosion, even at low temperatures. It is NSF H1 approved, so it can be used around foodstuff and it is neutral to all common plastic and elastomeric materials. LubTool 4000 is a combination of active cleaning components and removes a wide range of contaminations. It is suited for removing resin, oil and grease, most coatings, paints and crayon marks. LubTool 6000 forms a thin, grease-like protective film on metal parts for long-term indoor and outdoor storage.

Additives for 0W-16 Oils

Lubrizol Corp. has launched a series of additives for SAE 0W-16 ultra-low viscosity lubricants. The company says that Lubrizol PV1016 supports API SN licensable lubricants and offers ultra-low viscosity efficiency with superior durability. The additives help improve fuel economy while preventing component wear.
