With Octobers arrival, all three of the 2014 LubesnGreases Base Stock Guides are now available. If youre located in Europe, the Middle East or Africa and youve been a qualified subscriber to this magazine at least since early summer, you received our 2014 Base Stock Guide for Europe, Middle East and Africa in July. If youre looking for global information, we invite you to visit www.BaseStockGuides.com for more information about our two global guides.

The 2014 Guide to Global Base Oil Refining lists 168 mineral base oil refineries by owner, location and capacity. It shows total global mineral-base-oil nameplate capacity (both naphthenic and paraffinic, including gas-to-liquid) of more than 1 million barrels per day, or over 55.2 million metric tons per year.

Changes over the past decade are stunning. In 2005, Europe accounted for 34 percent of global base oil capacity. Today its down to 21 percent. Asias share has surged from 28 percent to 39 percent over the same period. In 2005, API Group I base oil accounted for 65 of global capacity; today its barely 47 percent. Group II has shot up from 16 percent to 33 percent, and Group IIIs share has also more than doubled, from 5 percent to 11 percent.

In addition to current capacities, the Guide to Global Base Oil Refining lists upcoming expansions, showing that close to 4.7 million t/y of new capacity is slated to stream from mid-2014 through the end of next year. And its all Group II and III.

Our 2014 Nonconventional Base Stocks Guide lists close to 190 plants worldwide that make seven leading types of high quality nonconventional base stocks: silicones, polyisobutene, esters, polyalkylene glycol, phosphate esters, polyalphaolefins and API Group III base stocks. Companies and locations are identified, along with estimated capacities where relevant.

All three completely updated 2014 Guides – two global plus EMEA – are available now. Please visit www.BaseStockGuides.com to learn more or order copies.
