Dear Editor,
I read the article about Cameroons lubricant market (March 2013, page 36), and it is very interesting. However, it is based only on the brands that are sold at petrol stations. We, Emirates Lube Oil Co., have sold our Nationallube brand in Cameroon since 1997, and our market share is much higher than the share of most of the companies mentioned in the article. Our distributor, Kami Auto, is a major player in the industry and has 38 outlets and seven oil charge stations in the country.
The major competitors in this market are Total, Oilibya, Tradex, Corlay and Nationallube, according to our market intelligence. The remaining suppliers are small in size, and their sales volumes are low compared to the above five.
I agree with the author of the article on one point – that the market is developing both in quality and quantity terms. We estimate that annual consumption is around 35,000 kiloliters per annum and is expected to increase by 1.5 to 2 percent every year.
Sincerely,
