Biodegradable Fluids Gain Rolls-Royce Approval

Terresolve announced that Rolls-Royce Deck Machinery has approved its EnviroLogic 3000 line of biode-gradable hydraulic fluids for use in its products. The company says the fluids are for use in environmentally sensi-tive applications, and they produce no long-term negative environmental ef-fects in the event of a leak. The fluids break down into natural parts within 28 days in accordance with the Or-ganization for Economic Cooperation and Developments ultimate biodegra-dation test.

EnviroLogic 3000 series is based on what the company calls BioPolyOlefins and is comprised of five fluids with ISO viscosity grades 15, 22, 32, 46, and 68,100. Temperature range is minus 40 to over 200 degrees C. www.terresolve.com

ATF Additive Package

BRB International BV has intro-duced an additive package to formu-late automatic transmission fluids. The company says that Petrolad 743N is a multifunctional package that does not require an additional pour-point depressant or viscosity index improver.

At a dosage of 10 percent by weight, Petrolad 734N meets the requirements of most common ATF specifications, including Dexron IIIH, Ford Mercon, Allison C-4, Caterpillar TO-2, M2C138-CJ and M2C166-H. It can also be used in power steering fluids. www.brb-international.com

Synthetic Oil Protects Race Cars

Carlube Triple R 10W-60 from Tet-rosyl Group is a fully synthetic motor oil formulated with a blend of three esters and the latest additive technol-ogy that the company says results in maximum performance. The motor sport grade was developed to pro-vide improved resistance to shear and viscosity loss in highly stressed areas of a racing engine or one that has been modified.

Triple R engine oil is said to im-prove lubricity and reduce friction in high-temperature race driving. It was primarily developed for use in the Hughes Motorsport Toyota Avensis. www.tetrosyl.com

PVC Processing Lube

Clariant announced Licocare SBW11 TP low-dosage polyvinyl chlo-ride processing lubricant made from a chemically modified wax produced from soya bean oil. Licocare SBW11 TP is used in processing rigid PVC compounds, especially polyvinyl films and extrusions stabilized by calcium, zinc and tin.

The company says the lubricant acts as an external and internal lubricant and provides good anti-sticking effects to aid releases from molds, no mold deposits and excellent thermal stabil-ity. It can also be used as a lubricant in PVC injection molding. www.additives.clariant.com

Powder Protects Hot Rolled Tubes

Protect surfaces of seamless steel tubes as well as worker safety with Condatub C 33 ceramic-based powder. Applied to work pieces, this product eliminates sticking during hot rolling of steel tubes. It also improves internal surface finish quality and can ease mandrel extraction operations when sprayed inside tubes prior to mandrel introduction.

According to manufacturer Condat, this product eliminates the need for additional lubricant and simplifies the production process while reducing waste disposal costs. By eliminating the need for lubricants containing graphite, phosphates or borax, it reduces the potential for workers to inhale toxic substances. www.condat-lubricants.com
