Manufacturer V4L Particles Ltd. says that the plug-and-play software does not require subjective, user-determined image processing thresholds. Therefore, it can detect difficult-to-see particles, such as translucent minerals, that can be missed by the operator.

Particle images are presented size-labelled and grouped according to ISO 4406, NAS 1638 or SAE AS4059 cleanliness codes and can be selected along with the scanned image for inclusion in the final report. FilterPatch-Scan can be integrated with a companys existing imaging equipment.

Croda Lubricants has launched a lubricity additive for neat metalworking fluids. The company said that Perfad 8400 significantly improves the cutting performance of both mineral oil and ester based metalworking fluids. Potential benefits to the end user include extended tool life, reduced energy consumption, better surface finish, improved precision and ability to machine more difficult alloys, with or without the use of reactive extreme pressure or antiwear additives.

The company has evaluated Perfad 8400 in both mineral oil and biodegradable ester formulations, and its tests show a significant reduction in tapping torque at an 8 percent addition rate.
