Automatic Lubrication for the People

Weir Minerals’ Accumin lubricators for use in mining equipment are designed to prevent bearing failures, reduce maintenance downtime and increase safety by decreasing the amount of manual interface required to keep equipment running, the company says. The lubricators are produced in 125 cubic centimeter gas-driven configurations as well as 120, 250 and 500 cubic centimeter electromechanically driven configurations. They can be deployed up to 5 meters away from the lubrication point, allowing easy access to the mount while dispensing a consistent dose of lubricant, regardless of ambient temperature. The system can be easily monitored via an LCD display, a flashing LED alert system and a transparent grease cartridge.

Roll On

Global bearing manufacturer NSK has developed a new tapered roller bearing for use in electric vehicles. The new bearing offers long life even under conditions in which very little lubricant is present with increased seizure resistance, therefore improving transmission reliability and efficiency, the Tokyo-headquartered company says. The bearings enable the use of smaller lubrication systems and more compact e-transmission designs. They are also 10 percent narrower with 5 percent less mass than NSK’s conventional tapered bearings.
