Bulked-up Offering

Packaging company Greif has developed the GCube intermediate bulk container, which is suitable for non-food products such as lubricants. The inner layer of the container is made of high-density polyethylene, while the two external layers are made from a blend of post-consumer resin. The company claims that the HDPE inner layer and outer PCR layers assure product integrity and reduce the carbon footprint of the entire container by up to 11 percent. The new IBC is currently available from Greif’s Castenedolo plant in Italy and will soon be available across the globe in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, China, Spain and the United States. www.greif.com

Apt Additive

Nanotech Industrial Solutions introduced its newest additive IW-5000. The water based additive is formulated using inorganic nanostructured fullerene-like tungsten disulfide and may be used to formulate synthetic, semi-synthetic and emulsion metalworking fluids or any other water-miscible lubricating fluid. The company boasts that the zero-oil additive offers good antiwear, antifriction and extreme pressure properties, as well as good load carrying and cooling capacity. It is also nonflammable and nontoxic, the company says. www.nisusacorp.com

Hybrid Lubes

Motul launched a comprehensive product range for hybrid vehicles with gasoline engines that comprises four engine oils, a coolant and a transmission fluid. The engine oils in the range come in SAE 0W-20, SAE 0W-16, SAE 0W-12 and SAE 0W-8 viscosity grades. The oils offer good cold starts, decreased oil consumption and engine cleanliness, the company claims. Each oil in the range is available in 1, 4, 20 and 208 liter packages. Motul DHT e-ATF, the range’s transmission fluid, is completely synthetic and protects both the mechanical and electric propulsion sources in hybrids. www.motul.com

Lube Antioxidant

Global additive manufacturer SI Group launched Ethanox 1315, a new addition to its lubricant antioxidant portfolio that provides lower volatility under high temperatures and extends the effective usage range of the lubricant. The company claims that the antioxidant performs well in standalone applications and also works well in tandem with its other antioxidants in several industrial and engine oil applications. Ethanox 1315 is able to remain soluble in today’s base stocks and satisfies the requirements of old and new engine technology. www.siigroup.com

Stationary Gas Engine Oil

Petro-Canada Lubricants’ Sentron SP 40 stationary gas engine oil is formulated with 0.75 percent sulfated ash and is designed for use in four-stroke stationary gas engines operating with steel pistons. According to the company, the oil’s thermal and oxidative stability prevents deposits in the top ring grooves of steel piston engines to reduce wear and increase engine durability, while its alkalinity retention extends drain intervals. The oil is also formulated to withstand high temperatures and pressures. www.lubricants.petro-canada.com

Low-viscosity Conservation

Special Tec AA 0W-16 is Liqui Moly’s newest low-viscosity motor oil. The oil is designed to conserve fuel while reducing emissions.
