Streamlined Oil Change Technology

Castrols recently released ePods oil dispensing system is a patented, gravity-fed setup that the company claims enables workshops to sell all the oil they buy, down to the very last drop. The Untied Kingdom-based lube companys new system consists of 5 gallon (19 liter) bottles that can hold four different viscosity grades. The pitchers allow inventory managers to visually monitor oil levels. With one pitcher dedicated to each viscosity grade, cross contamination is not a worry, the company states.

Shell Motorcycle Oil

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter Pvt. Ltd. and Shell Lubricants India have entered into a partnership to launch a new range of motorcycle engine oils. The new oils are formulated to match Honda Motorcycles requirements, providing enhanced benefits, such as improved acceleration, better fuel economy, engine protection during high operating temperatures and smoother gear shifting. The new range of lubricants will be available in 0.8, 0.9 and 1 liter bottles.

ExMo Penetrates Mining Lubes

ExxonMobils new Mobil SHC Elite synthetic lubricant can be used to protect mining equipment that often must operate in extreme hot and cold temperatures. The lube can also help protect equipment operating at temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius in intermittent service, making it suited for use in a range of mining equipment, such as in the gears and bearings of excavators, haul trucks, augers and conveyors, the company stated. The product can extend oil drain intervals while increasing energy efficiency by as much as 3.6 percent when compared to conventional mineral oils.

The company also announced that its 40 base number cylinder oil, Mobilgard 540, is available as of September 2. It is designed to work with the low-sulfur fuels required for compliance with the International Maritime Organizations 0.5 percent sulfur cap. The new oil can be used for vessels operating in 0.1 percent emission control areas and meets the requirements of original equipment manufacturers including Man Energy Solutions and Winterthur Gas & Diesel.

The lubricants division of Anglo-Dutch energy giant Shell has produced a new synthetic gearbox oil for wind turbines called Shell Omala S5 Wind. Formulated with a fully synthetic polyalphaolefin, Omala S5 Wind minimizes wear and micro-pitting, maintains effective fluidity at extreme low temperatures and minimizes foaming.

Forging Lubricants

Oelheld has a new series of die lubricants on the market for air forging. AirForge OH 40009 is a synthetic lubricant for steel, titanium and nickel-based alloys, with some graphite to add lubricity. AirForge OH 40028 is a semi-synthetic product for warm forging aluminum up to 650 C. AirForge 4028 is a synthetic, graphite-free lube for forging steel alloys.
