Russian Motor Oil Exports Rebound In 2016

MOSCOW – Russian motor oil export volumes grew 17 percent in 2016, while imports barely gained ground, according to a consultancy. New Mexico Files Suit Against Dollar General

New Mexicos attorney general filed a lawsuit against Dolgencorp LLC, owner of Dollar General, alleging the discount retail store chain engaged in unfair advertising and trade practices in selling its store brand motor oil. The suit also claims the oil diminished the states air quality. Dollar General sell its DG Auto brand motor oil, in SAE 10W-30 and SAE 10W-40, both of which are manufactured to meet API Service Category SF, making them unsuitable for vehicles built after 1988. Russian Police Foil Counterfeit Lubes Operation

Moscow police raided a business last week to shut down production and online sale of allegedly counterfeit motor oils. The economic security and anticorruption unit of the Moscow Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered about 13,000 liters of counterfeit motor oils, packed and ready for shipping. Police estimated the worth of the products at 1.2 million rubles ($20,400). CP Chem Outlines Management Changes

Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. announced President and CEO Peter Cella intends to retire effective Aug. 1, and will be succeeded by Mark Lashier, currently executive vice president for commercial. The company also announced several additional management changes effective July 1: Senior Vice President for Manufacturing Scott Sharp will become executive vice president for manufacturing; Senior Vice President for Projects and Supply Chain Ron Corn will become senior vice president for petrochemicals, with responsibility for olefins, natural gas liquids and aromatics product lines; Polymers Vice President Dave Morgan will become senior vice president for polymers and specialties; Petrochemicals Vice President Dave Smith will assume a new role as senior vice president for corporate planning and technology; Specialties Vice President Jim Becker will become polymers vice president; and Corporate Planning and Development Vice President Jim Telljohann will assume a commercial role as specialties vice president, reporting to Dave Morgan.

The Timken Co. yesterday announced an agreement to acquire Gorinchem, Netherlands-based Groeneveld Group, a provider of automatic lubrication solutions used in on- and off-highway applications, for $280 million. Effective July 17, Sea-Land Chemical Co. becomes an authorized distributor for Lockhart Chemical Co., representing its branded additives and surface protection technologies products to the lubricants market in North America. IMCD N.V. now distributes Ingevitys portfolio of lubricant products in Brazil.
