Just Say No to Light, Sweet Crudes

LONDON – Crude price doesnt correlate to lubricant base oil yield or quality. Rather, paraffin content is key, and Asia is home to some of the worlds best lube crudes. German Marketer Opens UAE Blend Plant

Apparently there is no such thing as too much lubricant blending capacity in the United Arab Emirates. German lube marketer General Petroleum announced last week that it has opened a plant in the emirate of Sharjah with capacity to make 150,000 metric tons of lubricants per year. Fuchs Reports Strong Year

Fuchs Petrolub AG posted 171.6 million (U.S. $236 million) in earnings on full-year 2010 sales revenues totaling 1.5 billion, up from 2009 earnings of 121.4 million on sales of 1.2 billion. Cash flow hit 77.1 million after acquisition payments for Shells food grade lubricants business in October 2010, and the financing of Fuchs growth in revenues.
