Dorf Ketal Chemicals LLC has picked Bossco Industries to distribute its lubricant and plastic additives product lines in the southcentral United States.

Under the arrangement, Bossco Industries will distribute PX lubricant additives for the industrial and metalworking lubricant formulators market. Bossco will also distribute Clearlink and Unilink products in the coatings market. Houston-based Bossco is a regional agent and distributor of chemical raw materials.

Whats appealing for us is that they really have a strong position – in addition to in lube additives – in downhole drilling fluids, especially in additives and lubricants, Bill Loven, president of Dorf Ketal Chemicals North America, told Lube Report. That has for us been something weve been trying to find a partner around the globe to get in on for a while.

Downhole drilling involves drilling deep into the earth to access gas or oil reserves. Fluids for downhole drilling help reduce friction and extend drill bit life. Every companys drilling fluid is highly secret in their formulations, he explained. They tune the drilling fluid based on the path.

Founded in 1989, Bossco initially serviced Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas. In 2007, it expanded sales coverage to include Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and southern Illinois. According to its Web site, the company has 10 sales professionals and inventory in six warehouses.

Bossco is also expanding into the southeast region of the U.S., Loven said.

In April 2007, Dorf Ketal acquired ExxonMobil Chemicals component additives business, and now handles the production at its main plant in Mumbai, India. The PX lubricant additives line is Dorf Ketals brand name for the component additives.

Loven noted that Mumbai-based Dorf Ketal is continuing to look for a manufacturing facility in the United States.
