Polartech Peddles Polymer Esters

Polartech,a supplier of metalworking fluid technology and expertise to the lubricant industry, has announced an extension of its relationship with Italmatch Chemicals (formerly Azko Nobel), a specialty chemical supplier, for distribution of Ketjenlube polymer esters.

Polartech spokesman Peter Richards told Lube Report that the Ketjenlube products are to be used in metalworking fluids designed for machining components for the automotive, nuclear, aerospace and high tech industries, among others.

In addition to distribution in North America, Polartech will officially represent Ketjenlube in Asia and several Eastern European countries. Richards said it is not the first time the product has been distributed in those countries.

In 2003, Polartech became distributor of the Ketjenlube brand of products for use as lubricity additives in metalworking fluids to lubricant companies in North America. After the partnership proved successful, the two companies looked to expand the relationship to other regional markets.

Robert Stubbs, Polartech Group technical director said, Polartech has had a lot of success, and gained much experience, in using the products in water based lubrication systems. This, coupled with our distribution networks in North America and Asia, puts Polartech in an ideal position to recommend and distribute the Ketjenlube brand on behalf of Italmatch Chemicals.

Luca Santini, marketing manager of Ketjenlubes globally, emphasized the strengths of the partnership, saying it has been an ideal situation for both companies. Polartechs knowledge of the metalworking fluid market, coupled with their confidence in the use of these products within this area, will allow the Ketjenlube brand to reach these niche markets more effectively. In addition, our knowledge in the polymerization process to produce these polymeric esters will also give the possibility – if needed – to develop tailor-made products to meet market requirements.
