The company had said it would shut down only a portion of the facility, and that base oil production would continue during the event. The turnaround involved closing a hydrotreater at Shreveport on Jan. 8. Crude processing in the base oil line was halted, but the company said it built inventories of intermediate feedstock so that it could continue to produce finished base oil during the turnaround.

The Shreveport plant has capacity to make 8,500 barrels per day of paraffinic stocks, including 7,600 b/d of API Group II.

Posted prices for paraffinic base oils in the United States were unchanged the past week. Crude closed at $54.94 per barrel yesterday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, according to Bloomberg. That was $3.64 above the price a week ago.

Historic U.S. posted base oil prices and WTI and Brent crude spot prices are available for purchase in Excel format.
