LukOil Locks in Lube Deal

OAO LukOil has reached an agreement to supply lubricants and fuels to Russias largest passenger car manufacturer, OAO Avtovaz, the companies announced this month. Officials said the companies will also cooperate with other organizations to raise the quality of lubricants and fluids used in the country.

According to a July 6 statement, the deal calls for Avtovaz to use LukOil lubes, fuel and specialty liquids for factory fill and to advise customers and service stations to use LukOil oils for aftermarket replacement.

LukOil and Avtovaz said they will work with other Russian oil companies, research institutions, Russias Association of Motor Engineers and the Government Committee for Standards, Metrology and Certification to improve the lubricants and fuels used in the market and ensure compliance with international standards.

The statement indicated that LukOil plans to increase its capacity for making advanced lubricants in order to meet its obligations under the agreement.

Moscow-based LukOil is Russias largest oil company and lubricant supplier. Avtovaz is headquartered in the west-central city of Togliatti. Its car brands include Lada.
