Dow Chemical Co. said last week that its biocides business unit and its Angus Chemical Co. subsidiary will open five new regional customer application centers from China to Brazil. The chemical giant also announced a restructuring of sales forces for Angus and Dow Biocides, including the reassignment of responsibility for metalworking biocides sold under the Angus flag.

The new application centers are located in Tokyo; Guangzhou, China; Pune, India; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dow Biocides and Angus Chemical already operate centers in Shanghai, Singapore and Horgen, Switzerland, along with their primary laboratory in Buffalo Grove, Ill.

Each center will house a fully equipped laboratory appropriate for product applications in its region, plus technical sales representatives, customer application specialists and technologists.

Both Angus and Dow Biocides make biocides used in metalworking fluids and other applications. Dow said it restructured their sales and marketing forces to better reflect individual business objectives. Under the new structure, responsibility for Angus products used in metalworking fluids shifts to Nanette Hermsen, global marketing manager for Dow Biocides.
