The U.S. base oil market was quiet the past week, with much of the industry taking a few days off for the Thanksgiving holiday. Posted prices for paraffinic oils have gone more than six weeks without changing.
Crude oil prices continued to hover below $60 per barrel, as the United States sported healthy pre-winter inventories despite the dent that hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused to domestic production.
The price of crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed yesterday at $56.06, according to Bloomberg. That was down $2.85from last week.
