Valvoline Takes Shine to Car Brite

Valvoline announced last week that it has agreed to buy Car Brite, a line of automotive reconditioning products, for an undisclosed amount. Valvoline officials said the deal will strengthen the companys car care business.

Car Brite is a premium brand that has earned a great reputation with auto and recreational vehicle dealerships, auto auctions, detail shops and car washes, President Samuel J. Mitchell said. This acquisition will help Valvoline expand its customer base and help us achieve our aggressive growth plans.

A division of Covington, Kentucky-based Ashland Inc., Valvoline bought Car Brite from E&A Industries, a privately owned investor group in Indianapolis. Car Brite supplies interior and exterior cleaners, paint restorers and protectants and final detail dressings, paints and dyes – all sold through a dedicated network of more than 100 distributors.

In addition to its core business of motor oils, Valvoline already supplies a range of car care products – from waxes and polishes to air fresheners – sold under the Eagle One brand name. Unlike Car Brite, it markets those items through consumer outlets.

The transaction includes Car Brites manufacturing facility in Indianapolis.
