Citgo is moving its headquarters to Houston, and most of the home offices lube-related jobs are going with it.
The company, which for 30 years has been based in Tulsa, Okla., completed a nine-month relocation study April 26 when it announced plans to move to the city dubbed the energy capital of the world. In addition to the advantages of being in an industry hub, officials said they were won over by offers of a $5 million grant and $30 million in low-interest loans from Texas and local governments.
Citgo, which is owned by Venezuelan national oil company Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., said it will relocate 700 jobs over the next two years but will leave 300 in Tulsa permanently. A company spokeswoman told Lube Report this week that most lubricant-related jobs at the headquarters will move to Houston. She said the exact number has not been determined and that she did not know the number of lube-related jobs at the home office.
