Mobil Claims NASCAR Endorsement

ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties announced recently that it is broadening its support for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, with an agreement that makes Mobil the circuits official lubricant.

Mobil is already a sponsor of the Penske Racing South team, an arrangement it has maintained for the past 12 years. In its new role as the circuits lubricants sponsor, Mobil replaces 76 Lubricants, which was involved in the recent merger of Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. Phillips Tosco brand continues to serve as NASCARs official fuel.

NASCAR is one of Americas most popular professional sports, with more than 75 million fans and 17 of the top 20 most attended events in the United States last year. Each year the organization sanctions 2,200 events at 128 tracks in 40 states across the country.

In addition to having Mobils name on display at those events, the new sponsorship allows ExxonMobil to promote the brand as NASCARs endorsed lubricants at points of sale. Sponsors hope to benefit from such activities by having their products identified as high performers and by winning fan sentiment for supporting their sport.

NASCAR continues to grow and to gain fans who value automotive performance and the measures that must be taken to achieve NASCAR victories, ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties Executive Vice President Jim Marcogliese said.
