A Hydrodec subsidiary leased a 9-acre site in northwest United Kingdom for use in the first phase of its planned 75 million liters per year API Group II/II+ rerefinery.
Hydrodec Rerefining (UK) Ltd. entered the lease agreement with The Manchester Ship Canal Co. Ltd. (a member of Peel Ports Group) for the site site near Eastham Locks, Port Wirral, Merseyside, northwest England. Subject to completion of the first phase of development within three years, HRR can then sign a long-term lease for an adjacent 7-acre site on equivalent terms.
The lease is an important milestone in the project, Hydrodec Chief Executive Ian Smale said in a news release. We remain focused on developing the U.K.s first purpose-built used lubricant oil rerefinery producing the highest quality [API] Group II/II+ base oils and are currently fully engaged in the planning, permitting and financing process for the project, Smale said. We considered various potential sites in the U.K. for the new rerefinery and selected the Eastham site for a number of reasons. In particular, the site is located in an established petrochemicals region and is zoned for employment use, provides good transport links by river and by road, whilst the availability of adjacent storage facilities means that the size of the new plant can be kept to a minimum. The site is close to the home of Nustar, which has been a Hydrodec customer and shared storage facilities with it for many years.
In August 2014, Hydrodec announced it signed engineering, licensing and technology collaboration agreements for the rerefinery with Chemical Engineering Partners.
Hydrodec operates transformer oil rerefineries in Canton, Ohio, and in Young, Australia.
