Government owned Oman Oil Marketing Co. launched its own lubricants brand in the Sultanate of Oman.

Products offered under the brand include automotive, commercial and specialty lubricants and greases.

In creating the lubricants range, we coupled our innate understanding of our customers lifestyles as well as our knowledge of Omans diverse terrain and weather conditions with extensive research and development, Nabeel Al Ruwaidhi, Oman Oils general manager of commercial, lubricants, marine aviation and business development, said in an Oct. 30 news release. We have adopted the most advanced global technology to produce lubricants especially tailored to Oman.

Oman Oils lubricants include Optimo, a passenger car motor oil, and Maximo, a diesel range catering to commercial vehicles. Also under the brand are Marino, specially developed for fishing and leisure outboard engines, and Ancillary, a range of products labeled as cool guard, gear guard, power guard, speed guard and friction guard.

This range of lubricants mark the first ever product of its kind to be manufactured by [Oman Oil], CEO Omar Ahmed Salim Qatan said at the companys lubricants launch press conference Oct. 27.

The company said its lubricants meet international quality standards and the specifications of the American Petroleum Institute.

Oman Oil last month announced plans to acquire Oberhausen, Germany-based chemical manufacturer Oxea from private equity firm Advent International. Oxea is a global supplier of solvents, polyols and oxo derivatives such as carboxylic acids, esters and amines. The products are used to make coatings, lubricants, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other products.
