Slavneft-Yanos reported its Yaroslavl refinery processed 15.3 million tons of crude oil in 2012, 3.4 percent more than in 2011. But base oil production dipped from 248,000 tons in 2011 to 223,000 tons last year.
The refinery’s petrochemicals output in 2012 totaled 8.6 million tons. The refinery in Russia produced 2.4 million tons of gasoline (3.2 percent increase), 873,000 tons of kerosene (3.7 percent increase), 4.7 million tons of diesel (6.1 percent increase) and 112,800 tons of aromatic hydrocarbons (17.3 percent increase).
The plant reached 65.5 percent of production efficiency, the company said. Since Jan. 1, 2012, the quality of gasoline and diesel fuels produced met Euro 4 and Euro 5 emission specification standards.
The Slavneft refinery is a joint venture between oil major Gazprom Neft and TNK-BP, the Russo-British JV that was recently acquired by Rosneft, Russia’s biggest crude oil producer. At Yaroslavl, the company operates a 250,000 t/y API Group I base oil plant. It expects to make a 100,000 ton Group III base oil capacity upgrade in the next few years.
After Lukoil, Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, Slavneft is the fourth largest lubricants marketer in the country, holding around 10 percent share of Russia’s base oil and lubricants market, according to Oleg Tsvetkov of the Moscow-based All Russia Research Institute for Oil Refining.
