LSC Adds Wynns Blending Plant

Contract blender and packager Lubricating Specialties Co. has acquired Wynn Oil Co.s former blending plant in Azusa, Calif., for an undisclosed amount and plans to upgrade it.

According to astatement LSC provided to customers, the Azusa facility will be significantly renovated and upgraded.

The statement indicates increased capabilities at the plant will include blending and packaging of automotive aftermarket products for oil, fuel, transmission, power steering, differential and cooling systems, in a variety of packaging styles.

By deadline, LSC did not respond to Lube Reports requests for comment.

Lubricating Specialties currently operates manufacturing facilities at its Pico Rivera, Calif. headquarters, and in Vernon, Calif., and a 140,000 square foot distribution center in Pico Rivera. According to the companys web site, the Pico Rivera plant has 1.1 million gallons storage capacity, and the Vernon facility has 3.2 million gallons storage capacity.

In an Oct. 20, 2011 letter to the City of Azusas city planner, LSC explained its plans to blend, package, warehouse and ship from Wynns former blending facility in Azusa. The property had not been acquired at that point. In that letter, LSC indicated some improvements it would make at the former Wynns facility, including reconnection of an old rail spur, and installation of new fluid storage tanks, filling lines and piping. Wynn shut down its operation at the site in May 2011.
