Mared Iraqiya, a member of Malia Group, will distribute Shell Lubricants products in Iraq.

Iraq is an important market for Shell, said Amr Adel, general manager for Shell Lubricants Middle East, Central and South Asia, and Pakistan region.

We see sizable opportunity and a potential in reaching to both business and customer segments, and most importantly we see evident development happening, Adel said in a statement. In partnering with Mared Iraqiya, our aim is to ensure a good supply of quality products to our Iraqi customers and establish structured distribution networks across the country. This market entry fully aligns with our growth plans across the region, where Iraq is one key focus market for Shell Lubricants.

According to its web site, Mared Iraqiya is present in several different regions in Iraq, including Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, Dohuk and Suleimaniah. The company has refrigerated and dry warehouses, trucks and vans, in addition to a team of trade marketing representatives.

The Malia Group was established in 1936 and consists of 20 companies.

Shell Lubricants brands available in the Iraqi market include Helix, Rimula, Tellus, Argina, Omala, Diala and Spirax for use in a cross-section of sectors and business types, as well as independent and franchised workshops, and oil change and service centers.

Shells presence in Iraq dates back to the early days of the countrys oil and gas industry, as a main contributor in the discovery of the Kirkuk oil field in 1927. In recent years, Shell has been actively supporting the Iraqi Ministry of Oil in its efforts to reconstruct the countrys oil and gas industry.
