Pakistan to Add Blending Plant

Mobil lubricants marketer MAL Pakistan is building an Rs 300 million (U.S. $3.3 million) lube oil blending plant in Karachi, Pakistan.

The projects foundation stone was laid at the National Industrial Parks in Karachis Korangi industrial area, according to a Dec. 27 company statement.

The plant will be built in two phases, each costing Rs 150 million, MAL Pakistan CEO Khawar Jamal said. Upon completion, this plant will have a production capacity of 33 million liters of lubricants per annum, the company stated.

Jamal noted the facility will have a laboratory, logistics center and a modern training center where company engineers will provide training and technical seminars to the maintenance engineers employed in various industries.

The company has an existing blending plant in Pakistan in Hub, Baluchistan.

According to its web site, MAL Pakistan is the exclusive marketer of Mobil branded automotive and industrial lubricants in Pakistan. The automotive products include passenger and commercial vehicle engine oils, transmission oils, brake fluids and greases. The industrial products include gas engine, turbine, compressor, hydraulic, and industrial gear oils.

Formerly Mobil Askari Lubricants, MAL Pakistan is part of the Army Welfare Trust conglomerate.
