Additives maker Infineum International appointed Xavier le Mintier as chief executive officer, replacing Dominique Fournier, who will retire at the end of this year.

The company plans to hold a short handover in December before Fourniers Dec. 31 retirement date.

Le Mintier served as executive vice president for Shell Oil Products Africa since 2006. In the role, he had executive responsibility for the full Shell downstream operation in Africa, covering retail, commercial, supply and distribution, across 33 countries and 3,000 staff.

Prior to that, he was vice president of Shells global aviation fuels business. During more than 30 years with Shell, he worked in its chemicals, retail, business to business, supply and distribution businesses in France, the United Kingdom, Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa.

Set up in 1999, Infineum is a joint venture between ExxonMobil and Shell.
