Puzzled about the differences between solvent-refined API Group I and hydroprocessed Group II/III base stocks? Curious whether Group II+ is really a plus? Need to get a grip on the basics of base oil terminology, technology and applications? Amy Claxton will teach Base Oils 101: a Crash Course on Monday, Feb. 15 in London, to answer these questions and many more.

The basic course covers crude, base oil manufacturing, quality fundamentals, demand segments, pricing trends and drivers, additives and the future of base oils.

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, Claxton will present Base Oils II: the Next Level, covering regional supply qualities, quality comparisons of base oil suppliers, base oil quality standards, and quality trends and implications. This advanced course includes a profitability exercise on which base oil plant makes more money: Group I in Europe, Group II in the United States, or Group III in Asia. The results are astounding, says Claxton.

These two full-day ICIS base oils training programs are held in London, in advance of the Feb. 18-19 ICIS World Base Oils Conference. You can register for one or both classes, whether or not youre attending the World Base Oils Conference. For more information or to register, click here.
