Rogers Snares All of LubriCorp

Rogers Petroleum acquired Kelso Oils interest in LubriCorp, which the two southeastern distributors had formed in December 2008. Terms were not disclosed.

We decided to sell our interest to Rogers so that we can concentrate on and pursue our interest in real estate development, said Chris Gettelfinger, Kelso chairman and CEO.

The change will have no impact on the lubricants part of the business, LubriCorp CEO Mike Foltz told Lube Report. LubriCorp of Knoxville, Tenn., will continue to distribute Shell, Pennzoil, Quaker State, ExxonMobil and Castrol brand lubricants, he confirmed.

As a Rogers operating division, LubriCorp markets products to the consumer, commercial, industrial and aviation sectors in more than a dozen states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Texas and California.

When Rogers Petroleum and Kelso Oil formed LubriCorp in 2008, the newly formed company focused 100 percent on lubricants. Kingston, Tenn.-based Rogers continued to operate separately from LubriCorp, distributing wholesale conventional fuel and biofuels, and operating convenience stores. Rogers acquired Knoxville-headquartered Kelsos fuel business as part of the joint venture.

The main difference now is well be able to offer some fuel opportunities to address our customers fuel needs as well, so well be a one-stop shop, Foltz said. From the standpoint of our customers, nothings going to change. Theyre going to see no personnel changes happening or anything else. Customers have responded well to the new company, and we look forward to continuing our growth with Rogers as the sole owner.

Rogers became distributor of Exxon petroleum products for the Morristown/Hamblen County area in 1980 when Don and Penney Rogers acquired the business from Exxon U.S.A. Rogers grew in the 1980s and 1990s through acquisitions and additional supplier agreements. In 1998, Rogers purchased Southeastern Lubricants in Kingston, Tenn., keeping the name for its lubricants operating company. Acquisitions in 2004 and 2008 added distribution points in Johnson City and Cleveland, Tenn.
