Lubricants distributor Central Penn Oil is expanding its Elmira Heights, N.Y. location, adding bulk storage in a 33,000 square foot warehouse and extending its distribution area further into the state of New York.

Chevron/Texaco came to us and wanted to know if we could expand, and help fill in some areas for them that were kind of sparing, David Clark, manager of the Elmira Heights location, told Lube Report. Weve stepped up to that challenge, and thats going to be our goal.

A subsidiary of Redding, Pa.-based Automotive Services Inc., Central Penn Oil currently employs three workers in 6,000 square feet of leased space in Elmira Heights. A second location in Muncy, Pa., focuses on the southern Pennsylvania market.

We just purchased a warehouse, and were going to put in a bulk facility and some tanks, Clark said. We purchased the place so we can do that, and also to expand our territory. Right now were working out of packaged stuff, and 350 gallon totes were bringing in from our location in Muncy, so we needed some bulk storage.

He said some renovation of the warehouse, which once housed a glass-recycling business, will be necessary to install a tank farm. The business plans to move in March 1. We hope to be up in full swing by May, he added.

Clark noted the company plans to hire two more drivers and two more sales people for the Elmira Heights location. Were going to expand up into the Syracuse and Rochester area, and New York state, he continued. Currently we cover northern Pennsylvania and the southern tier of New York. Were the only location in New York, so were taking it on farther north, east and west.

The Elmira Heights location handles a variety of lubricants products, including motor oils, greases and antifreeze. It also distributes industrial fluids such as cutting oils.

Clark said that Central Penn Oil, which was started in 1931, opened the Elmira Heights location five years ago.
