Kimes Technologies International has moved to a larger facility that includes its first laboratory. The sulfonates marketer also named Julie Kimes, daughter of company founder Norman L. Kimes, as president effective Sept. 16.

Julie Kimes previously worked for Stoney Creek and most recently Soltex. Norman Kimes will remain active as chairman of the board and will handle special projects for the company.

The additional space and lab will help us accommodate our growing business and help us better serve our customer base worldwide, Kimes stated. The company provides additives and other chemicals to oil and chemical compounding customers in the grease, metalworking and paint industries.

Harry Pizzingrilli, Kimes vice president of marketing for the Americas, noted the company has always rented lab space in the past. Were working on some new products, including a new line of gelled calcium sulfonates, he told Lube Report. Our lab will give us a better opportunity to have people regularly developing those products and some other new items that were doing as well.

Gibsonia, Pa.-based Kimes recently introduced an overbased calcium salicylate to augment its sulfonates line. A rust inhibitor, it also lends antioxidant characteristics and is used as a detergent in marine diesel, two-stroke, and automotive crankcase lubricants.
